Verdant Building Products (VBP) was created to fill a gap in the building industry with climate-smart and economical building products. VBP is a sibling company of Verdant Structural Engineers (VSE). An industry leader in the sustainable engineering space, VSE has 20+ years of experience in designing low embodied carbon structures. VSE has designed over 200 custom buildings with natural structural materials and many more using conventional materials.

VSE's principals are contributing authors to two foundational texts on straw bale construction; their seminal work resulted in writing the International Residential Code Appendix on Straw Bale Construction.

Through this extensive experience, VSE demonstrated that straw insulation is not only a superior method to reduce a building's carbon impact, but also revealed significant limitations: custom installation is time, labor, and cost intensive, which inhibits it from being used broadly and frequently. Realizing that a prefabricated wall could reduce this barrier to entry, members of VSE's team pursued and were awarded a multi-phase EPA Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant to create the Verdant Panel.

During Phase I of the EPA grant, VSE vetted the market viability of its Verdant Panel - a unique prefabricated straw wall panel. Phase II of the EPA SBIR grant spurred product development and laid the groundwork for the foundation of Verdant Building Products. With the SBIR grant closed, VBP is actively raising a seed round and working on beta project. These early beta projects are immediately available and capitalize on the high, unmet demand for accessible straw construction.
